User recommendations

  • Use only Lavazza A Modo Mio Capsules.
  • Place the coffee machine on a flat, stable surface, away from water and heat sources.
  • Use cold water only to fill the water tank; never use milk or other liquids.
  • The appliance and accessories may overheat during operation. Use the appropriate lever only and allow the appliance to cool down before cleaning or storing.

First start

  • Lift and remove the lid, then take out the water tank.
  • Rinse the water tank before use.
  • Fill the water tank up to the MAX level, using only fresh, still drinking water. Place the water tank back onto the coffee machine and replace the lid.
  • Plug the power cord into a power outlet.
  • Press the on/dispense button to switch the machine on. The machine will emit a signal tone. All of the buttons will light up in white and the indicator lights will momentarily turn orange.
  • The machine will start the heating cycle. The on/stand-by button will begin to flash white.
  • The coffee machine is ready once the on/stand-by button stops flashing and the dispensing buttons are lit up continuously.
  • For the first use, dispense 0.5 litres of water without inserting a coffee capsule, holding the lever down.
  • Place a cup under the dispensing spout.
  • Press the FREE DOSE button and wait until dispensing has finished.

Descaling

Descaling instructions for Lavazza A Modo Mio Deséa model coffee machines.

Limescale formation is a normal occurrence when using your coffee machine and will result in reduced water flow or cold coffee. For this reason, you will need to descale the machine every three months or so.

To complete the descaling process, use a non-toxic and/or non-harmful descaling product for coffee machines, commonly available on the market. Do not drink the descaling solution and liquids that have run through the machine until the cycle is complete. Never use vinegar as a descaling agent. To descale the coffee machine, we recommend using LAVAZZA DESCALER.

Some brief instructions for proper descaling

  • Remove the water tank and empty it completely, then remove the milk frother
  • Fill the tank with a descaling solution and water as described on the packaging of the descaling product. Place the water tank back onto the coffee machine.
  • Place a container that holds hold more than 0.5 litres under the dispensing spout.
  • Plug the coffee machine in but do not turn it on.
  • Press and hold the ESPRESSO and ESPRESSO LUNGO buttons together for at least 5 seconds.
  • Press the FREE DOSE button to start the descaling cycle. If the FREE DOSE button is not pressed within 9 minutes from the signal tone, the coffee machine will switch back to stand-by mode and you will need to repeat the process to start the descaling cycle.
  • The coffee machine will start heating up and the FREE DOSE button will start flashing.
  • The machine will automatically start descaling once it has heated up.
  • When the machine has used all the liquid in the water tank, the process will be momentarily suspended. Empty the container used to collect the solution.
  • Remove the water tank, rinse and wash carefully. Fill with fresh, still, drinking water up to the MAX level.
  • Put the water tank back onto the machine.
  • Place a container that holds hold more than 0.5 litres under the dispensing spout.
  • Press the FREE DOSE button to start the rinse cycle.
  • After the machine has finished dispensing, clean with a soft, damp cloth.
  • Once you have cleaned the machine, the descaling process is complete. The machine is now ready to use.

Additional characteristics

  • To save energy, the machine will automatically switch to stand-by mode after 9 minutes of inactivity.
  • This status is indicated by the button turning off. The machine can be reactivated by pressing the button again.
