Character comes from the blend, but the format decides what ends up in the cup. The same coffee, ground for a french press or sealed inside an A Modo Mio capsule, gives two different results, because grind, dose and extraction pressure all shift along the way. Before selecting your preferred blend, take a moment to consider the machine that will be on display in your kitchen.. Whole beans leave the grind to you, ground coffee comes ready for the moka pot and the filter machine, and capsules deliver a pre-dosed extraction with nothing left to set.
The french presswants a medium grind; a home espresso machine wants a fine one, or whole beans where a grinder is built in. Capsules, for their part, follow the system of the machine: A Modo Mio for Lavazza, aluminium capsules compatible with Nespresso* Original machines for the Nespresso* you may already own. With the format settled, the blend takes over. A 100% Arabica leans toward floral and fruity notes over a lighter body, while a touch of Robusta adds body, a denser crema and cocoa undertones. Roast sets the rest: lighter for brighter profiles, darker for bolder, more persistent cups.
For the everyday moka pot, Qualità Rossa Ground pairs Brazilian Arabica with African Robusta in a full-bodied cup marked by chocolate notes, in 250g and 1Kg ground packs. Where a darker profile is preferred, the Crema e Gusto family runs from the sweet Dolce to the more pronounced Forte. Qualità Oro Ground, by contrast, is a 100% Arabica with floral and fruity notes. The same blends are offered in a reduced caffeine version, decaffeinated through a natural carbon dioxide method.
Whole beans let you tune the grind to the method in front of you. Qualità Oro Beans gathers six Arabica varieties from Central and South America, its floral and stone fruit notes at home in both espresso and filter. Espresso Barista Intenso Beans, an Arabica and Robusta blend given a dark roast, brings cocoa and woody notes to a bolder espresso. Pack sizes range from 250g to 1kg, suited to domestic grinders and to espresso machines with a built-in grinder. The range also takes in Tales of Italy, whole beans inspired by Italy's great espresso traditions from Napoli to Roma, with rich notes of dark chocolate and hazelnut. Capsules for the machine already in your kitchen
For Lavazza A Modo Mio machines, the A Modo Mio range covers eight profiles, from the delicate Lungo Dolce at intensity 6 to the intense Intenso at intensity 13, all in packs of 16 capsules. For Nespresso* Original machines, the aluminium Espresso Maestro line covers Ristretto, Classico, Lungo and Intenso, with notes that move from chocolate and caramel toward dark spice. Beside them sit Qualità Oro and Qualità Rossa in compatible capsules, along with the Tales of Italy collection devoted to Napoli and Roma.
Ground coffee is ready for the moka pot, filter machine or cafetière. Whole beans call for grinding first, and that extra step lets you match the grind to your method. Beans also hold their aromatic profile longer, with less surface exposed to air. In the end the choice comes down to whether you own a grinder.
No. A Modo Mio capsules work only with Lavazza machines built for the A Modo Mio system. Aluminium capsules compatible with Nespresso* Original machines fit the Nespresso* models you may already have, though not Nespresso* Vertuo machines, which run on a different format. Each system is made for its own capsules.
Yes, in small amounts. European regulations describe it as reduced caffeine coffee. Lavazza decaf blends are decaffeinated through a natural carbon dioxide method that lowers the caffeine while keeping the aromatic profile of the blend intact. They are available in ground coffee, whole beans and both capsule systems.
Intensity describes the body and aromatic strength of a blend, not its quality. Beans and ground coffee are rated on a scale of 10, capsules on a scale of 13. A lower number points to a lighter, more aromatic cup, a higher one to a bolder, more persistent flavour.
Yes, provided you grind them to a medium consistency, a little coarser than for an espresso machine. Blends such as Qualità Rossa and Qualità Oro suit both espresso and moka.
Tales of Italy brings together blends inspired by Italian coffee traditions, each dedicated to a city such as Napoli or Roma. The blends capture the flavour profile tied to that city's espresso style, available in ground coffee, whole beans and Nespresso*-compatible capsules.
