Coffee has always involved a trade-off between convenience and quality, but the Tablì tab changes that calculation. Instead of a capsule or a pod, each tab is made entirely from pressed ground coffee, with no coating around it. You can see the tab and smell the coffee before you brew, which is exactly what a sealed capsule keeps hidden. What you get in the cup is shaped by one thing only: the coffee itself.
The main variables are intensity, blend, and flavour profile. Intensity runs from mellow and aromatic through to bold and full-bodied, so start by thinking about how you actually take your coffee: around 60% of UK capsule coffee drinkers drink theirs with milk, and body matters as much as aroma in a milk-based cup. Blend matters too: 100% Arabica tabs tend to be lighter and more complex in flavour, while Arabica and Robusta blends give more body and a longer finish. Flavour notes are worth paying attention to as well, since the range spans from floral and fruity on the lighter end through to cocoa, chocolate, and dark spice at the more intense end.
For a coffee with a lighter, more nuanced character, Tablì Qualità Oro is a good place to start. It's a 100% Arabica blend with origins in Central America and South America, roasted medium-light and carrying floral and fruity notes. It produces a well-defined espresso without the heaviness of a darker roast, which makes it equally suited to morning cups or quieter moments later in the day. For those who want the same approachable character without the caffeine, Tablì Decaf is also a 100% Arabica blend from Central America and South America, medium-light roasted, with nutty notes and a light chocolatey aftertaste. It delivers a full-flavoured result that doesn't read as a compromise.
When you want a dependable everyday espresso, Tablì Qualità Rossa is the balanced choice of the range. It's an Arabica and Robusta blend sourced from Africa, Central America, South America, and Southeast Asia, medium-light roasted, with notes of chocolate and dried fruit. The blend is designed to hold up well as espresso, giving a consistent and rounded cup with a balanced flavour that suits a wide range of tastes, morning to evening.
For those who prefer a bolder, more assertive espresso, the range has two options at the higher end of the intensity scale. Tablì Espresso Intenso is a medium-dark roasted Arabica and Robusta blend from Africa, Central America, and South America, with spicy notes and an aftertaste of cocoa and biscuits. It's a characterful cup with some edge to it. A step further, Tablì Espresso Ristretto is the most intense tab in the range: a medium-dark roasted Arabica and Robusta blend from Africa, South America, and Southeast Asia, with notes of chocolate. The result is full-bodied and concentrated, suited to those who find most espressos a little too gentle.
What are Tablì coffee tabs made from?
Each Tablì tab is made exclusively from pressed ground coffee with no capsule or coating of any kind. The tab is 100% coffee, which is designed to preserve the aroma and flavour that can be affected by additional packaging layers in other systems.
Are Tablì tabs compatible with other coffee machines?
Tablì tabs are engineered specifically for the Tablì machine. The extraction process is designed to work with the precise dimensions and density of the tab, so performance is not guaranteed on other machines.
Which Tablì tab is recommended for a less intense cup?
Tablì Qualità Oro and Tablì Decaf are both medium-light roasts with 100% Arabica blends, which gives them a lighter body and more delicate flavour profile compared to the rest of the range. Either is a reasonable starting point if you prefer a less bold espresso.
Does the Tablì range include a decaffeinated option?
Yes. Tablì Decaf is a 100% Arabica, medium-light roasted tab with nutty notes and a light chocolatey finish. It's intended to deliver a full-flavoured espresso for those who want to reduce their caffeine intake at certain times of day.
How many tabs come in each pack, and how much coffee does that represent?
Each pack contains 12 tabs at a net weight of 84 g. All tabs across the range are the same pack size and net weight.
What is the difference between Espresso Intenso and Espresso Ristretto?
Tablì Espresso Intenso is an Arabica and Robusta blend with spicy notes and a cocoa and biscuit aftertaste, medium-dark roasted. Tablì Espresso Ristretto uses a different origin combination (including Southeast Asia) and is slightly more intense, with a concentrated chocolate note and a fuller body. Both are at the bolder end of the range, but Ristretto is designed for a denser, more concentrated cup.
